Bellona Prominent (Scea bellona) (Druce, 1906) |
Synonyms: Tuina bellona |
Scea bellona is a diurnal moth restricted to the high elevations (2,500-4,000 m) in the Andes of central Peru, e.g., Ancash and Lima departments. Its iridescent bluish-black wings with small red streaks likely mimics the toxic Altinote ozomene butterfly. The caterpillar likely feeds on Passiflora spp.
